A Book Talk: China’s Art Market – Past, Present and Future

Author Kejia Wu will discuss her book “A Modern History of China’s Art Market” which provides the first account of the drastic transformation of China’s art market. The talk will examine how the environment for China’s arts and cultural development changed from the end of the Cultural Revolution to today and its future trajectory. The discussion will cover the stages of market transformation and introduce a group of Chinese contemporary artists who have been trying to explore creative breathing space in a complex political and cultural environment.
