Fisherman, Woodsman, Farmer and Scholar
The outstanding motif depicting fisherman, woodsman, farmer and scholar got its specific title during the King Rama V era. It is called “漁樵耕讀” (Yú qiáo gēngdú) and emphasized the main four occupations as an ancient Chinese value. This typically appeared on porcelains and daily objects unveiling beautiful landscapes and these people. Formerly, China was a traditional agricultural society. They believed that it was a duty of peasants to be diligent and self-sustained while cultivating and improving mentality through reading.
