ART

RCB Experimental Art Lab, in collaboration with NUNi Productions, proudly presents “ART”, the Tony Award-winning masterpiece by Yasmina Reza. Under the masterful direction of Pattarasuda Anuman Rajadhon, and featuring the illustrious Silpathorn Award-winning actors Damkerng Thitapiyasak, Nikorn Saetang, and Pawit Mahasarinand, this production is a true artistic endeavor. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Bangkok, Thailand, the play explores the intricate dynamics of friendship among three friends– Pawit, Damkerng, and Nikorn. Their bond is put to the ultimate test when Pawit makes the bold decision to purchase a minimalist white painting worth millions of Baht, stirring profound questions about art, valure, and loyalty.

Damkerng scornfully condemned the artwork as nothing more than a “ridiculous piece of white cloth”. Despite Pawit, the owner, arguing that the piece, created by a renowned artist, held immense and unquantifiable value, Damkerng remained unmoved. Pawit and Damkerng, thus, sought Nikorn’s counsel to mediate their heated disagreement. As Nikorn found himself in the middle of their conflict, every gesture, response, or opinion he expressed about the so-called “ridiculous piece of white cloth” would inevitably impact the fragile fabric of their friendship.

The upcoming performance at River City Bangkok will celebrate their milestone 50th show. This special occasion will feature an exclusive unveiling of Pawit’s avant-garde (and cheeky) contemporary art collection. It promises to be an intriguing blend of performance and a mini-exhibition, making it a must-see event for art and theater enthusiasts alike.

“ART” runs for 90 minutes and will be performed four times, with English and French subtitles, on 14, 15, 21 and 22 September 2024, at 7.00 PM in the RCB Forum, 2nd floor, River City Bangkok.
