Celebrating International Artist Day with River City Bangkok
#RCBInternationalArtistsDay2021
Today is the International Artists Day in which artists and art lovers around the world celebrate art of all genres. Social media will be bombarded with pictures of arts and the hashtag #InternationalArtistsDay2021 to pay tribute to artists and their contributions.
The International Artist Day was initiated in 2004 by a Canadian artist whose works are about Romantic Realism. Also, one of the most influential artists Pablo Picasso’s birthday happens to fall on this day. Considered as the ‘Father of Cubist Art’, Picasso was destined to become a talented artist (check out Genius TV series that features his childhood and his artistic recognition in Paris)
Here, we would like to pay tribute to some of Thailand’s greatest contemporary artists.
River City Bangkok has been promoting the arts since mid 1980’s and is one of the first art centers in Thailand. Most of the well-respected Thai artists from the very first days of Thai contemporary art were influenced by the modern Cubism movement distinguished with geometric forms. They remain as inspiration for new generation of artists up to the present time.
Looking back to the works of well-respected Thai artists such as the master, Fua Haripitak, who is highly recognized as a pioneer of modern art in Thailand. This National Artist in visual art awarded in 1985 was influenced by Cubism as shown from these selected works. Another respected cubisum master of Thailand is Sompot Upa-in.
Simply put, the artistic talents of both Thai masters and today’s emerging artists are all worthy to be celebrated on the global platforms.
Get inspired by art and promote artists of all genres by posting their past or current exhibitions with River City Bangkok where numerous art exhibitions by Thai artists and expats regardless of age and gender have been staged and supported.
