P(Control) = 1

From the past to the present, human beings have been taught that we were all born with free will, which is the ability to choose among options or act independently in specific situations. However, in reality, there are moments when we are compelled not to do certain things. We’re nearly obligated to keep our opinions to ourselves. We are encouraged to avoid debating controversial topics and to show respect for the elderly, even when they do not deserve to be respected.

Derived from the mathematical probability formula, which is used to calculate the likelihood of an event occurring.  P(Control) = 1 exhibition asks visitors to explore whether we were born with free will or whether there are numerous invisible elements controlling us.

P(Control)=1 exhibits the abstract artworks by Wisit Techasirikosol, inspired by several aspects regulating human life such as capitalism, old tradition, and environment. Unlike other abstract artworks that are based on improvisation and expressive feeling, his abstract artworks are full of geometry patterns and lines that represent the various rules that govern our lives.

Curator Varalee Na Pombejra presents this exhibition with the intention of creating a maze-like atmosphere. There are numerous forced pathways to connect to the viewer’s experience when they are forced to act inside the structure of society.

Although mathematical findings may have a single solution, the answer to P(Control) = 1 may vary depending on individual experience.

You will be the only one who knows your own answer.
