People’s Choice Prize

We are proud to announce our heartfelt congratulations to Natth Khadwinya, the winner of this year’s “People’s Choice Prize” from the nationally renowned Italthai Portrait Prize 2024 competition. Along with a prize reward worth 100,000 THB with the artwork titled “iamjayward” that has captivated and impressed us all.

“I found myself discussing with a friend my desire to enter a portrait painting competition. My mind was a blank canvas at the time, with no concept or vision in place. Liam, my friend, mentioned that when you create something out of happiness, it always turns out beautifully. One of Liam’s joys is exploring beautiful places, and Thailand, with its abundance of stunning locations, provides endless inspiration.

After our conversation, an idea sparked within me: what if I could paint not just a person, but also capture the essence of their happiness? Imagine if my artwork could reach someone who’s stressed from work or overwhelmed by the fast-paced city life, reminding them to take a moment to rest, to seek joy in life’s simple pleasures. In this piece, I aimed to convey the pure happiness of one individual, hoping to share it with many others. I used colored pencils on paper, meticulously capturing every detail of both the person and the surrounding atmosphere, striving for perfection in my work. This, too, is my happiness.”
