White Noise
“White Noise”—A combination of all different frequencies of sounds, with equal intensities. The name white noise comes from the analog of white light, which contains the whole spectrum of colors of light, similar to the sound of the rain, a rumbling waterfall, rustling leaves, a fan or a static TV.
The exhibition translates that frequency into visual, buzzing with frequencies, formed and shaped by animated or non-animated objects and from all walks of life. Each piece has captured a segment of the frequency—white noise that brings a sense of closeness, nostalgia or even joy to each individual. These are the resulting expressions of Shon’s work. Each piece is not only to be glanced at, but to be reimagined, heard and submerged in the buzzing city streets—a harmonious tie of visuals and wavelengths. As we steadily move out of the pandemic together from every corner of the world, this series highlight two concrete jungles, Hong Kong and Singapore, from pre-Covid to current times capturing the contrast of places with and without humanity yet not losing hope that one day the joy and happiness by returning back into the jungle.
