Get to know more about Van Gogh’s sunflowers

See sunflowers and you are more than likely to think of Vincent Van Gogh. The large, bright yellow flowers featured in many of his works. In the years 1887 to 1888, twelve of Van Gogh’s paintings featured sunflowers, in fact, they represent some of Van Gogh’s most famous works.

Why did he use yellow colour?
The vibrant yellow oil paints in Vincent’s sunflower paintings were first created in the 19th century. Van Gogh was among the first painters to use the colour.

Through his stories and paintings of sunflowers Vincent Van Gogh became one of the most well-known artists of all time.
