Art Creates Surgery and Surgery Creates Art
The Department of Surgery at Siriraj Hospital , in collaboration with River City Bangkok, proudly presents “Art Creates Surgery and Surgery Creates Art”, the second installment of an art exhibition for spearheading innovation in healthcare.
In this day and age, medical science progresses in leaps and bounds. Still, each piece of medical equipment must be designed and rigorously tested before it can be incorporated into real-world treatment to ensure patient safety, and this applies to advanced medical instruments which, more often than not, have to be imported from international manufacturers, making them expensive and largely inaccessible. Therefore, this exhibition aims to raise funds to sponsor the locally-based development of healthcare technologies with the use of AI (artificial intelligence) and other genres of visual media. Besides improving treatment outcomes and alleviating the burden on patients, the benefits of innovation will also extend to medical pedagogy in general subjects and specialized fields. Moreover, medical innovation will uncover new frontiers for research, which will flow, like tributaries of knowledge, into the ever-expanding episteme.
This exhibition convenes masterpieces by leading Thai artists in sculpture, visual art and mixed media. It features works by venerated masters, such as Chakrabhand Posayakrit, Chalermchai Kositpipat, Manop Suwanpinta, Vallop Nimsanong, “Pex” Pitakpong Jamesripong, Naidee Changmoh, Songsin Tiewsomboon, mid-career artists rising in the industry, such as Wisut Ponnimit, Kongsak Poonpholwattanaporn, Sayamrat Auksornsak, Muebon, Aof Smith, Benzilla. 2Choey, Karms, Suntur, Poorboy, Gie Sunisa, October29, Kenz, Tomato girls, Mr.Kreme, Yamada, and young, rising stars such as Earthh, Mackcha and Tew Kanama. All of the proceeds, above expenses, will be donated to the Siriraj Foundation’s fund for medical innovation.
