From Day and Night
River City Bangkok in collaboration with Pagoda the Art Club, proudly presents a pivotal solo exhibition by Buakow Phasom, a highly talented female artist inspired by the hauntingly beautiful muse that visits her day and night. ‘Sorrow’ itself.
When delving into the realm of emotions that transverse the epochs of life, many might conjure moments aglow with joy, resonating with laughter’s symphony. Yet, Buakow differs from the rest, for she often reminisces of times bathed in sorrow, her tears a constant companion. This emotion, a relentless tide, swirls to her side each dawn and dusk, an integral piece of her existence, inseparable and eternally bound, defying severance.
In this exhibition, Buakow delicately weaves her sorrow, etching it through the enigmatic figure of a young, doe-eyed character – her perennial muse in artistic narratives. In addition, the use of colors and symbols rich with significance are employed, such as chains, metaphorically encapsulating a confining bondage in an aspect of her art.
To Buakow’s eye, though sorrow may be a realm of distress, it unveils the very essence of existence – where both joy and anguish intertwine. These experiences, as if forged in a crucible, have fortified her, becoming the very vigor fueling her prolific artistic creations.
