Italthai Portrait Prize 2023

The Italthai Group and River City Bangkok proudly present the Italthai Portrait Prize of 2023, the third chapter of Thailand’s first national portraiture competition, instated with the ambition of nurturing and uplifting young and emerging artists in Thailand and providing them with professional and educational opportunities.

On Tuesday 28th February 2023, we held a press conference, in which we reflected on the two previous editions of the Portrait Prize competition with Yuthachai Charanachitta, Chief Executive of the Italthai Group, and former portrait prize winners Manop Momim (‘21) and Teerapong Kamoplu (‘22), and inaugurated this year’s reprise of our celebrated portraiture competition with members of the press and invited guests.

We will be accepting submissions from artists of all ages, genders and ethnicities who are Thai citizens or resident foreigners. With the support of our principal sponsor, the Italthai Group, submissions will be considered for 4 prizes: “The Portrait Prize” (500,000 THB), judged by a panel of seven “opinion leaders” in Thai society; “The Packing Room Prize” (200,000 THB), awarded by RCB’s exhibition team; the “People’s Choice Prize” (100,000 THB), given to the painting with the most audience votes; and the “Youth Prize” (100,000 THB), a category introduced this year, awarded to a portrait painted by an applicant aged 16 years or younger.

The submissions period for the Italthai Portrait Prize of 2023 is 1 March – 21 June 2023. For more information on submission criteria and details, please visit our website, https://portraitprizethailand.com/
