Mona Lisa

Did you know?

Mona Lisa, one of the world’s most famous paintings, is surprisingly smaller than you might think but it has been the subject of theft and attempted vandalism many times.

Leonardo da Vinci created this portrait between 1503-1506, depicting a wealthy Italian woman as a sitter.

Aged more than 500, this painting protected by museum glass in the Louvre Museum has been attracting people around the world. Recently, it was stained by cake when a man dressed as an elderly woman tried vandalizing it. Luckily, it was unaffected, but videos taken by viewers went viral.

However, this is not the first time. Many shocking incidents that happened to Mona Lisa, making it become one of the world’s most expensive paintings due to its highest insurance valuation.

Submission Guidelines

– Artists will submit a photo of portrait painting and another showing the painter and subject together for their life painting sitting which took place in 2022

– A short text of no more than 300 words about the sitter

– Paintings must NOT exceed the size limit of 2.25 sqm (not include frame)

– The artwork may be painted in any medium – oil, acrylic, watercolor, or mixed media.
