STILL : ON
In a world that never stops moving, we are all doing our best to build, hold things together, solve problems, and protect certain things—in the hope of being loved, chosen, surviving, and feeling like we matter. Yet when our hearts feel weary, confused, or uncertain, something within us is still “at work,” even when we may not notice it.
STILL : ON invites us to explore the human “brain” beyond its anatomical function, as an important system working behind our lives, thoughts, feelings, and memories. It perceives, processes, and selects the things that come our way, while also assessing our hopes, fears, memories, and the lessons from what we have experienced.
The exhibition connects these inner processes with the world we live in today—from cities and technology to travel and the enormous amount of information we encounter. Within the context of the Anthropocene, these things gradually shape the way we perceive, remember, make decisions, and adapt, both through what we see and what quietly takes place within our inner world.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors can explore the workings of the brain through three key processes: Emotion Encoding, Signal Selection, and Neural Pathway. From perceiving and recording emotional experiences, to selecting what is worth keeping, and seeing and understanding what lies before us, these processes help us find a path that feels right for us.
STILL : ON is not intended to fix anything or offer ready-made answers to the complexities of human emotions. Instead, it invites us to pause for a moment, notice what is happening within ourselves, and get to know the small system that continues to work, even on days when everything around us feels like too much.
Because sometimes, moving forward may begin with seeing ourselves with a little more understanding—from the memories that remain, the feelings that continue to send signals, and the things within us that never stop moving.
