The 1st Art Creates Surgery and Surgery Creates Art
The Department of Surgery at Siriraj Hospital is hosting The 1st Art Creates Surgery and Surgery Creates Art exhibition in celebration of the 105th anniversary of the Department of Surgery and the one-year anniversary of the Siriraj Surgery Museum, with all proceeds going to the Siriraj Foundation to help the poor and to further develop surgeons.
The exhibition features paintings and sculptures by famous artists of different styles, including Impressionism, Pop Art, and Abstract Art. Dr. Suchart Wongtong, an international artist, Sakwut Wisesmanee, a portrait expert, and the renowned street art artists BENZILLA, 2CHOEY, and KARMS are among them. It also features the works of Noppawong Boautong, who created folk history Buddhist paintings using a unique technique of powder coat on eggshell and lacquer varnish, Ittipon Pattarachon, a modern Thai painter, and Kongsak Poonpholwattanaporn, an independent artist who makes mixed-media paintings, as well as Manop Suwanpinta and Jitti Robot. All of the artists have graciously provided one-of-a-kind pieces for exhibit in the exhibition and auction.
The exhibition will be presented at RCB Artery, 1st floor River City Bangkok, from March 15 to March 25, 2022. Art enthusiasts are invited to attend an opening ceremony and an art auction activity on Sunday, March 20, 2022, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Prof. Prasit Watanapa, MD, PhD, Dean of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, will preside over the ceremony. The event will also be attended by Assoc. Prof. Chandan Ruangsetc, Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Assoc.Prof. Vitoon Chinswang Wattanakul, MD, PhD., Dean Deputy of Faculty of Medicine Siriraj Hospital, and other faculty members. This program is overseen by Asst.Prof. Jirawat Swangsri, MD, PhD.
