Unseen Heroes
The formidable talents of a group of Thai artists have united to uplift the lives and stories of “Unseen Heroes” through a suite of portraits. The remarkable individuals they’ve chosen to depict have no need for superhuman abilities, for they possess a far more magnificent power: a selfless heart, roused to sacrifice blood, sweat and tears at any opportunity to be the gust of wind that allows their loved ones to soar to greater heights, or of service to the common good. Yet these gallants in the woodwork have still to receive the degree of acknowledgement and admiration merited by their accomplishments and impact.
“Unseen Heroes” is an exhibition that pivots the spotlight behind the wings of the stage of public acclaim. The figures gathered in the penumbral margins include: a code-breaker who cracked the key to the end of a global war, yet was driven to an early grave by persecution; a sanguine artist who transformed their mountain of hardships into a monument to happiness; a woman who struggled to bring her brilliant inventions out of the shadow cast by her legendary beauty; a race car driver who became the engine behind the success of a thriving automotive empire; a father with an unparalleled devotion to his son’s dream of becoming a sculptor; children navigating a war-torn land with indomitable spirits; a trainer who has helped numerous athletes strike for gold; family members who are the ballast keeping superstars afloat in the turbulent waters of fame; and the invisible cohort who put a smile on our faces as they quietly go about their everyday lives.
As their brushes swept a flurry of colors across their canvases, twelve artists, Chalee Phunsukphoudee, Chayanin Nakapan, Kodsoung Eangubon, Manop Momin, Navapon Huanchaiyaphum, Nidchakan Kongsawat, Pattaraphon Khumpong, Preeyanuch Udomrai, Ronachart Mahakphichian, Sirawit Suharitdumrong, Tanawat Muratatunyaluk and Theerapong Kamolpus have brought out the innate radiance of the stories and lives of these Unseen Heroes and allowed them to shine brilliantly.
Perhaps this league of heroes will limn the people in your life in a new halo, And maybe you’ll discover that your reflection can cut a rather dashing figure in the mirror.
