Saturday 2 April 2022 – River City Bangkok was pleased to host a special event for hope and peace interpreted through all charitable paintings by the Ukrainian artist Viktoria Vorotina which is still currently on display. Alongside this colorful exhibit was a magnificent music performance conducted by Prof. Nancy Tsui-Ping Wei, together with her sixteen well trained singers from the College of Music, Mahidol University. River City Bangkok’s main Artery was alive with “heavenly voices”, including the Ukrainian Soprano Singer Diana Lytovchenko who sang her solo recital “Moonlight Night”! Mrs. Viktoria Vorotina proudly joined the choir singing the Ukrainian folk songs together with her compatriot Diana Lytovchenko. The audience was delighted by the performance of the pianist, a graduate of Mahidol University. Mr. Anant Changwaiwit whose fingers graciously tickled the notes of the stand up piano on loan by Khun Bow of “Bow Music Lessons” from the province of Nonthaburi. A great treat for all who came.
The Saturday afternoon event was attended by several honorable ambassadors and the general audience fond of art and music. A warm and compassionate speech by Linda Cheng, Managing Director of River City Bangkok opened up the well attended event “Art and music have always transcended all borders. They are used to express emotions that cannot be described. Today, you can witness what we can do together, all of us from different countries and nationalities, how we can do it together to show that the world actually needs to be better than this. In 2022, we are raising money for victims of the war!? This is just beyond me. I want to thank all the ambassadors and their spouses, families and all friends that are sitting here knowing that this is important. Let’s send our hope, love and peace to Ukraine.” In regards to H.E. Mr. Oleksandr Lysak, the Chargé d’affaires of Ukraine to Thailand, he expressed overwhelmingly “This exhibition is a reflection of hope and vision of what is happening in Ukraine now. Not only Ukraine has changed but also the entire world is undergoing the message of transformation. Art is the best way to feel love, kindness and compassion. Enjoy this exhibition and think about Ukraine and people turning to become militaries, defenders and volunteers, showing their close connection with the motherland. The artist Viktoria is a great example.” Last but not the least, Viktoria Vorotina said “The Hope and Peace Collection for Ukraine is a compilation of paintings I made on the Koh Samui island in Thailand, the adopted country I selected by my choice. Some of the remarkable artworks include a triptych titled ‘Motherland’ powerfully representing Ukraine. Other is ‘Rebuilding Lives’, a series of three paintings named after the very dedicated Ukrainian surgeon who is rebuilding lives of affected people. The other one is ‘A Bright Future for our Children’ that I created with my six-year-old daughter. Viewers can bid this wonderful painting at the exhibition until 9 April. We are together today making a big mission. It is such a big effort to make this event today. I am very grateful for people watching us online. I would like to thank Professor Nancy and her talented Thai singers who will sing the Ukrainian song together with me and Diana. Also, Sretsis, a reputed Thai designer brand, has made this beautiful Sunflower dress for me today. They will help sell it via online platform and donate the revenue for my country.”
All art and music lovers can take part in this goodwill event by on-site donation box or artwork purchases. There is still an opportunity to come to River City Bangkok to view the paintings, and for international art collectors, you can kindly request the online art portfolio and price list.
