Pink Peach Trees
Van Gogh’s complete work in his 35th anniversary
To celebrate Van Gogh, our all-time favorite artist born today, his fans are called to like this post! He who lived such a short life but his works will last in our memories created several paintings with a marvelous depiction of blossoming orchards within a few years before passing away in 1890. He was very productive when moving to Arles in the southern France in February of 1888 when it was so cold and snowy. Suddenly the springtime was awakened with colorfulness and joy to please this Impressionist painter.
As a nature lover fond of symbolic rebirth and hope, Van Gogh started to paint 14 works complete in the early of spring simply because of his profound inspiration. He could nearly finish one painting a day. The series of these outdoor plentiful landscapes are entitled Flowering Orchards.
Today, we are taking you to explore Pink Peach Trees through this impressive story. This beautiful painting was no. 20 of the series and most importantly it was complete on his 35th birthday. The painter described “two pink peach trees against a glorious blue and white sky. Probably the best landscape I’ve done”. On 21 April 1888 he wrote to his beloved bother Theo that he “will have to seek something new, now the orchards have almost finished blossoming.”
Debra Mancoff, an art historian, said “In his flowering trees, Vincent attained a sense of spontaneity, freeing himself from the strict self-analytical approach he took in Paris.”
Pink Peach Trees is a tangible evidence of his most productive time of his life and it reminds us of his familiar quote “If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.”
The greatest painter’s works will forever be remembered by us, the Impressionists.
Happy Birthday, Vincent!
